Next to the bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church is a book that every Catholic family should read.
Whether you have questions regarding your faith, the Mass, the Saints, Church teaching, or prayer, the
Bible and the Catechism are your best resources. These sources have been relied upon for centuries.
Every Catholic library begins here.
The Bible is the inspired Word of God and the foundation of Christian life.
Through Sacred Scripture, we encounter God’s plan of salvation, the life and teachings of Jesus Christ,
and the history of God’s people.
A good Catholic edition of the Bible, complete with all 73 books, should be the first book every Catholic
owns.
THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH (CCC)
If the Bible tells us what God has revealed, the Catechism helps us understand how the Church faithfully
teaches those revealed truths.
It explains:
* what Catholics believe;
* how Catholics worship;
* how Catholics should live;
* and how Catholics pray.
Whenever confusion arises about Catholic teaching, the Catechism remains one of the safest and most
reliable references.
This fall, we will be starting a study of the Catechism, Foundations of Faith: A Journey Through the
Catechism of the Catholic Church produced by Ascension that will help you understand the teachings of
the Church and how they fit into your life. Through the use of amazing videos shot in more than 40
locations around the world and talks by renowned theologians Dr. Edward Sri and Dr. Marcellino
d’Ambrosio you will come to a new and greater appreciation of the Catholic Church.
Foundations of Faith: A Journey Through the Catechism of the Catholic Church will begin on September
